Preparing for Camp
Everything you need to know to get your child ready for a great day. Above all, please ensure your child brings a positive attitude!
What to Bring
QR Code
Your booking confirmation email contains your QR code for drop-off and collection. Have it ready on your phone at reception. Forward it to anyone else collecting your child.
Ideally add all children to one booking for a single QR code. If booked separately, have all QR codes ready.

Packed Lunch
Full packed lunch every day stored in a suitable container — we cannot provide refrigeration. Pack enough for snacks during break times.
We operate a NO NUTS policy at camp. Please do not pack anything containing nuts.

Refillable Drinks Bottle
Ensure children remain hydrated throughout the day. There are drinking water fountains at the venue.
We sell personalised chilled water bottles at camp — ask at reception for details.

Clothing
Comfy, practical clothing with suitable footwear (trainers or similar). Provide a waterproof jacket and jumper for colder days.
Always pack a small change of clothes — accidents happen, or children may get wet during water play or messy during cooking and painting.

Sun Protection
Apply sun protection before arrival and provide a bottle of sun lotion to reapply during the day (particularly after swimming). A sun cap/hat is recommended.
Camp essentials including t-shirts, caps and water bottles are available to purchase at registration.

Medication
Bring a completed medical form, the medication in a sealed and named bag/container, and a copy of the prescription if prescribed by a Doctor. Please ensure medication is in date.
We have blank medical forms at camp if you need them. All medication must be declared at booking.

Tuck Shop
Every day at camp we run a tuck shop selling confectionery items that children can purchase as treats. Handling coins is a great way for children to learn about money!
How It Works
If you'd like your child to purchase from the tuck shop, we recommend packing no more than £1 each day. This can be kept securely in their bag for when the tuck shop opens.
For younger children, you may prefer to pop the money into a small marked envelope and hand this to the leader at reception, who will look after it until purchase time.
Forgot coins? No problem — we can take a card payment to cover the cost of tuck, or add it onto your account.
If your child has food allergies, please provide these on the booking and clear items with staff before purchase.
Tuck Shop Pricing
Our tuck shop trolley has three shelves, each with different priced items:
Smaller treats & sweets
Mid-range confectionery
Larger treats & sweets
Example: With £1 your child could buy one item from the top shelf (30p) and one from the bottom (70p), or two items from the middle shelf (50p + 50p) — and of course they can receive change!

Meet Scoop — Our Ice Cream Cart
During the sunnier weeks of camp (typically Easter, May Half Term and Summer), our very own ice cream cart Scoop tours our venues serving up premium soft-serve, sorbets and ice lollies. A special treat for a special price!

Per child, any flavour
Send your child in with £3 cash and hand it over to our ice cream cart team.
Or pay by card at reception in the morning when you drop off.

What NOT to Bring
Mobile Phones
For safeguarding purposes, we request mobile phones are kept at home. If your child is aged 11 or older and walks to or from camp, they may need a phone for security reasons — this must be declared at drop-off and handed to the Camp Manager, who will securely hold it until the end of the day when your child departs our care.
Valuables & Games Consoles
Please leave valuables such as jewellery at home. We also recommend not bringing expensive games consoles like Nintendo Switches — these are unnecessary at camp and can cause incidents. Instead, a simple favourite book or a less expensive toy is a great alternative if your child would like something for quieter moments.
Behaviour Agreement: By booking with School's Out Activities you have accepted our terms & conditions and behaviour policy. Please remind your children of the rules of camp to ensure everyone has a great time.

Swimming Kit
Depending on your venue, you may need to bring fresh swimming kit every day in a separate bag labelled with your child's name.
Safety & Supervision
Rest assured — there is always a qualified lifeguard (or lifeguards) poolside at all times, with additional leaders watching on and supporting children in the water. Our leaders are also on hand to help younger children with changing.
Early Explorers (Shallow End)
All pools have a roped-off shallow end. Our Early Explorers remain in the shallow end at all times, where they can enjoy the water safely with plenty of space to play and have fun.
Older Children (Width Swimming Test)
Older children have the opportunity to complete a width swimming test. If the lifeguard is happy the child has passed, they'll be classed as a competent swimmer and allowed into the deep end. If not — that's absolutely fine! They can stay in the shallow end where there's still plenty of room.
Flotation Devices & Support
For swimmers who need a little extra support, we have plenty of foam swimming discs that children can pop on easily as armbands, as well as pool noodles for added confidence in the water.
If your child has a specific flotation device they prefer — such as a buoyancy jacket or inflatable armbands — please do pack these and let the leaders know at drop-off so we can make sure they're ready for pool time.
Venues with Swimming Pools
Don't want to swim? If your child would prefer not to swim, that's no problem at all — an alternative activity will always be provided so they won't miss out on the fun.
Occasionally there can be maintenance days where swimming pools are out of action. We will notify parents when we know about these.
Venues without Swimming Pools
These venues don't have a swimming pool, but that doesn't mean they miss out on the water fun! During the summer months we run "The Big Splash" — our exciting water play sessions featuring slip 'n' slides, water gauntlets, and super soakers.
We recommend packing a separate bag with swim kit or old clothes that your child doesn't mind getting wet, so that if the weather is warm enough our leaders can put on water play activities. We'll try to check the forecast in advance and let you know which day of the week we plan to run The Big Splash.

Wondering what a typical camp day looks like? Here's a step-by-step journey from morning drop-off to happy collection.
Pack & Prepare
Help your child pack their bag with everything listed above — packed lunch, water bottle, sun cream, suitable clothing and of course their excitement! Put the correct address, postcode or what3words into your sat nav to allow for good time on the journey.
Arrive at the Venue
Early Bird drop-off is between 8:00 – 9:00am. Normal drop-off is between 9:00 – 9:30am. Drive to the venue using the postcode or what3words provided in your booking confirmation. Allow plenty of time — walk with your child to reception and have your QR code ready on your phone.
QR Code Check-In
A friendly member of our team will greet you and scan your QR code to register your child. This is also when you hand over any medication, fill out the required forms, and share any instructions — we'll store everything safely.
Ask Questions & View the Timetable
Have a look at the day's timetable on display and ask any questions at the desk. The timetable is also available online at any point so you can see what your child is up to throughout the day.
Collect the Camp Manager Contact Card
Our staff will lead your child to their course area. Before you leave, grab a Camp Manager contact card — call anytime if you need an update or want to pass on a message to your child.
Enjoy Your Day
Head off to work, run errands or simply relax at home — your child is in safe hands. If you need to contact or speak to your child during the day, call the Camp Manager and they'll get an update or message across for you.
Making Friends & Having Fun
Your child will integrate into their course group, buddied with like-minded children to create long-lasting friendships. They'll complete exciting activities throughout the day with regular toilet and break times, plus lunch from 12:30 – 1:30pm.
Collection Time
Standard collection is between 4:30 – 5:00pm at the course reception area. If you've added Extended Fun, collection is from 5:00 – 6:00pm at the Sports Hall where all children are gathered. Please ensure whoever is collecting has the authorised QR code — it's your security to collect.
Check Belongings
Make sure your child has all of their belongings and nothing has been left behind in lost property. A quick check saves a lot of hassle!
Happy, Tired & Ready for Tomorrow
Your child will be buzzing to tell you about their day — the activities they completed, the friends they made and the fun they had. They'll be happily tired out and ready to do it all again tomorrow!
